OsecoElfab’s Safety Plug is the fastest response, most reliable, and safest pressure protection device used in the pressure pumping industry today.  The Oseco Safety Plug combines the traditional three components of a rupture disc system into one hermetically sealed component. These high performance, one-piece units come leak-tight from the factory and install in minutes. No other pressure protection solution installs as reliably or easily as the Oseco Safety Plug. It guarantees leak protection by incorporating an electron beam weld design that completely removes the need to seal your rupture disc within a holder. This patented design makes the Oseco Safety Plug the only widely available solution to eliminate exterior seam leakage.

  • The Oseco Safety Plug is available in line sizes 2” and 3”.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is available in burst pressures ranging from 5000 psig all the way up to 15500 psig.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug has a large flow capacity and is capable of flowing 88 barrels per minute through each rupture disk.
  • The primary applications for the Oseco Safety Plug are frac applications, specifically well protection and high-pressure line protection. Additional applications include Fluid End protection, Coiled Tubing Unit protection, and Back Side protection for the wellhead.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is typically manufactured with a NACE 316 Stainless Steel body, and a Hastelloy C 276 rupture disk.  Other materials may be available or offered on request.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug works well in liquid, slurry, or two-phase services.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug has a 95% operating ratio, meaning the Oseco Safety Plug operates reliably and with a long service life at pressures up to 95% of the marked burst pressure.  Pressure excursions above this 95% operating ratio will shorten the lifespan of the Oseco Safety Plug.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is only offered with a 0% Manufacturing Design Range (MDR), meaning there will never be any variation between what burst pressure you order, and what burst pressure is marked on the tag of the rupture disk.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is offered in two main variations: Standard and Ultra. The Standard Oseco Safety Plug maintains or exceeds the ASME-specified burst tolerances of +/- 5% of marked burst pressure. The more carefully controlled Ultra Oseco Safety Plug maintains burst tolerances of only +/- 3% of the marked burst pressure.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is a scored metal rupture disk, with a non-fragmenting design, meaning the Oseco Safety Plug can be installed upstream from a pressure relief valve.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug does not have a vacuum support.  The Oseco Safety Plug is designed to handle vacuum services without any additional design enhancements.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is a reverse acting metal rupture disk.  Process pressure is applied to the convex side of the rupture disk.  Increasing process pressure collapses the dome of the rupture disk until the dome inverts, and the metal yields and tears open along the scored lines.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is designed specifically to handle the intense pressure cyclic services found in pressure pumping applications, and it does so extraordinarily well. The Oseco Safety Plug has been tested in excess of 3,500,000 full scale pressure cycles (0 psig to 90% of marked burst pressure and back down to 0 psig again), with no evidence of fatigue induced failure or alteration of burst pressure.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is designed, manufactured, and certified to ASME BPVC Section XIII requirements.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is a fully integrated rupture disk device. It needs no separate holder assembly, because it IS a holder assembly with a disk integrated into it.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug does not leak. Every Safety Plug is leak checked to 1×10-8 cc-atm/sec using helium.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is designed to be used with 1502 series Weco Unions only. Installation using any other type of connection will fail.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug is available with a free vent outlet as a standard option, or with a threaded outlet option.
  • The Oseco Safety Plug utilizes OsecoElfab’s HPSR rupture disk.
